Day to Night Make Up with Urban Decay Naked On The Run + Review

Day to Night Make Up with Urban Decay Naked On The Run + Review
Once touted as limited edition last December, it looks like the Urban Decay Naked On The Run palette is here to stay.

I received this beautifully packaged palette as a Christmas gift but have not reached for it as much as I thought I would have.

As it was so neglected I thought I would do a day to night look without deviating too much from the palette itself. At the time of filming this, my day looks were considerably paired down than usual so this make-up is a reflection on what I was enjoying back then. I definitely think the day look could be improved as could the evening make-up. While we on the subject of time, make-up for me has no boundaries and so I might decide to wear what is typically regarded as suitable for the day time at night and vice versa.

Also a rare treat is in this blog post - I only edited one picture so all others are raw images except for the video thumbnail. And, oops, I didn't take any images of the day look, probably because it was so basic it didn't need to be shown in detail.

So what do I think of this palette? Firstly, I cherish it because it is a gift but aside from that I feel like Urban Decay are churning out palettes under the guise of the iconic Naked collection because it appeals to the masses. Yes, I am one of those sheep because I cannot help myself. However, for the price, I think Urban Decay could have done a little better eye-shadow wise. Perhaps something a little darker would have made this palette much more appealing. That being said, for what you get either this palette, it is good value for money as individual items cost much more when you total them up.

In the palette you get six eyeshadows, one of which can be doubled up as a highlighter shade.

Dive is a sparkly, mid-tone frosted rose copper with micro glitter. Like with other shimmers in this palette, there was fallout so make sure to do your eyes first before you even contemplate doing foundation or concealer.

Fix is a light to mid-tone neutral matte brown and blends well. Great pigmentation.

Resist is a mid-tone metallic taupe with a metallic sheen. The shimmer in it makes fallout a pain but it is a beautiful, highly pigmented shade.

Dare is a mid-tone warm matte brown and blends well. Great pigmentation.
Stun is a gorgeous warm golden brown with warm with micro glitter. Highly pigmented but that fallout thought...

50/50 is a pale iridescent champagne shade with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. Better used as a subtle highlight rather than as an eyeshadow.

The palette also includes a bronzer and blusher which are more suited for light to medium skin tones. The bronzer is a warm medium matte shade and not as pigmented as other bronzers from Urban Decay. The blusher is a cool bright pink which suits my undertone perfectly as it mimics my natural flush colour.

Naked On The Run has three compartments consisting of Urban Decay products which help to complete a make-up look. Sesso is a full sized lipgloss and can replaced with any other Naked gloss in a shade of your choice once you run out (of course you have to go and actually buy it). Sesso a sheer, warm, medium brownish pink and is comfortable to wear on the lips.  Topping up is a chore as it only lasts a few hours and even less so if you are eating or drinking.

The next compartment is filled with travel sized 24/7 glide-on pencil in the shade Stag. It is a is a cool, deep brown with a soft satin finish. It blends easily although you have to work quickly with it before it sets. It is well pigmented and builds to an even, dense colour. It may not be bulletproof but it wears really well on the lash line just not as great in the waterline. Urban Decay typically release miniature versions of their pencils as gift sets so finding another similar size pencil in a different colour won't be a difficult task.

The final compartment contains a travel sized Perversion mascara and I am in love with it. So much so that I purchased the full sized version and strangely, the travel sized one is better. I don't know if I got one from a weird batch but I prefer the mini one. It makes my lashes look thick and voluminous without being too clumpy. I normally prefer dry mascaras but lately I have been gravitating towards wet ones, much like the formula of Perversion. It is incredibly black, although not quite as black as my Lorac pro mascara. A little of this mascara goes a long way so ease up on the coats unless you are wanting to achieve that Tammy Faye look.
