Monotone Chocolate Eyes & Lips Make-Up Tutorial

Monotone Chocolate Eyes & Lips Make-Up Tutorial
I really wanted to do a monotone chocolate make-up since receiving Tanya Burr's lipgloss in the shade Chocolate Fondue a few months back. Now that Easter is almost here I thought it was the perfect time to show you a tutorial using some chocolate shades. It also gives me an excuse to use my beloved Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar 2 palette that I have been obsessed with recently (full review and another look coming very soon). I also show a few extra cocoa beauty products to help you look and feel extra delicious this Easter. Hope you enjoy.

Make-Up Forever Flash Palette DUPE Tutorial & Review | Color Block Make-Up

Make-Up Forever Flash Palette DUPE Tutorial | Color Block Make-Up
An entire make-up application done by mixing the colors from the MUFE flash palette dupe. It is called the 'IMagic Fashion 12 in 1 Flash Color Cosmetic Case Make-Up palette for eyes and cheeks' and cost me just £7.15 (has since increased) from eBay - a huge 90% less than the MUFE original which can cost anywhere between £70 and £95. This is such a great palette for nights out and events where you want extra heavy coverage in your foundation. it is also ideal for make-up artists, theatre actors, drag queens and also for those who travel alot and don't mind mixing their colors to get what they need. They are highly pigmented greasepaints which are easy to blend in order to customize your own colors. They gave great coverage but because of the texture I would suggest setting the make-up with a either translucent or similar colored powder if you decide to wear this as an everyday make-up as the product has a tendency to transfer especially on the eyelids. I have spoken so much about this palette that I thought I would show you how to do an entire face of make-up using just this palette.  This was such a fun video to do. Hope you enjoy.
The colors in this palette are:
  • Gold (shimmer)
  • Coral
  • Turquoise
  • Fuchsia
  • Yellow
  • Brown
  • Silver (shimmer)
  • White
  • Red
  • Bright Blue
  • Leaf Green
  • Black

For this make-up I mixed some of these colors together using a stainless steel mixing tray and spatula that I bought from eBay for just £2.73.

Face:
  • Foundation - I mixed White, Brown, Coral (although I kept calling it peach in the video) and Leaf Green) to create a flesh tone.
  • Concealer - Same colors as the foundation with an extra bit of White.
  • Highlight - Same as the foundation but with alot more white. I then mixed Gold and White for the added shimmer on the tops of the cheeks.
  • Contour - Same colors as the foundation but with extra Brown.
  • Blusher - I mixed Coral, Red and Pink for a nice spring/summer blush color.
Eyes:
  • Eyebrows - I mixed a small bit of Brown with Black and White to make a taupe shade.
  • Eyelid Base - I used the leftover foundation as my eye base.
  • Eyeliner - I mixed Pink and Bright Blue to create a vibrant indigo/violet shade. I then set this with a similar colored eyeshadow which was Saturn's Ring from the Celestial palette by Sleek.
  • Lower Lash Line & Bottom Waterline - I mixed Yellow and Leaf Green to make a lime green/chartreuse shade and set it with Thrash from the Electric palette from Urban Decay.
  • Inner Corners - A mixture of White and Gold.
  • Mascara - I used two mascaras which were Make-Up Revolution's The Viper and Maybelline Big Eyes.
Lips:
  • Main Color - Same as blusher color with an extra bit of Coral.
  • Centre Highlight - Same my initial highlight shade before using the Gold.

St. Patrick's Day Make-Up Inspiration

St. Patrick's Day Make-Up Inspiration
St. Patrick's Day Make-Up Inspiration
Last year I posted 9 Different Ways To Wear Green. This year I have a few more St. Patrick's Day looks for you to choose from.

1. Electric Bright Green
This one is from my Urban Decay Electric palette challenge which I did last summer. This is a look I filmed and then set as a speed tutorial as inspiration for St. Patrick's Day. A full list of products is in the video's description box.

2. Green Lips & Neon Liner
No video tutorial for this one as it was something I created for Hallow e'en last year. The colors are on point for St. Patrick's Day if you wanted to be more daring with your make-up. Lips are Make-Up Revolution 'Serpent' lipstick. Eyes are Lime Crime 'Citreuse' uniliner and Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette.

3. Gold & Green Lids
This is one I created for a Christmas look last year. You could ditch the red lipstick for something a bit more neutral, coral or pink but the eyes are like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow - perfect for the 'luck of the Irish' look. A full list of products is in the video's description box.

6. Glitter Halo Eyes
The ultimate 'drag queen trapped inside a girl's body' look. Perhaps my favorite of the bunch so far, it's a dramatic black and green glitter halo eye. Not for mild and meek! A full list of products is in the video's description box.

Christina Aguilera 'Dirrty' Inspired Make-Up

Dirrty
Do you ever get days where you sit and watch music videos from your childhood? I get that every day. I recently binge-watched some of Christina Aguilera's music videos from her Stripped album days. I always preferred her make-up and style over Britney's and I remember thinking, "I want to look like that' when I first saw the videos for 'Dirrty' and 'Can't Hold Us Down.' I even remember where I was the first time I saw each video. I was 15 and I had just come home from school. I must have forgotten my key because I ended up going to my Gran's house and Xtina just exploded onto the television screen. I was like, 'whoaaa.' Teenage mind blown with new Xtina's make-up and style. It was a far cry the innocence she portrayed in 'Genie In A Bottle.' I text my friend Louise who was as equally obsessed with Xtina as I was and saying 'MTV, right now.' For 'Can't Hold Us Down,' I was on  plane heading to Florida for our summer holiday and this video was part of the in-flight music playlist. I wanted those orchid hot pants and so badly! Anyway, after that trip down memory lane, here is a make-up I created inspired by that time in Xtina's career. I have taken elements of both videos but it is mostly based on 'Dirrty.' Hope you enjoy.

Starter Make-Up Kit For Beginner Make-Up Artists

After posting my guide to make-up courses, I thought I would put together a product guide for beginner make-up artists. I put together this guide for beginner make-up artists who may not have the means to buy so much at once. I am a firm believer in buying only what is necessary at the beginning and then you can expand and build up as you progress in your career. This is a way of safeguarding your initial investment in your career as you may find you don't want to continue with make-up artistry as your vocation. If you only buy a few products at the beginning and choose some great dupes and then decide it is not for you then you have will not be out of pocket too much. Also, it is better to learn with a few than be overwhelmed with a lot. I also believe dupes and alternatives are made in the same factory as the original or else the same number of factories that may share contracts with beauty and cosmetics brands. By having some well known make-up brands you will instill confidence in your client, but by also having dupes, it was a way for you to impart knowledge to your clients who may want to pick up the less expensive version of a particular product - meaning you as a make-up artist will be at the forefront of their mind when jobs become available - make-up artistry after all has it's biggest advertising in word of mouth. Although I love dupes, one thing you should invest more money in is skincare and foundation. These types of base products do tend to be better quality than cheaper alternatives but mid-range ones are a happy medium between luxury and drugstore brands when you first starting out. I purposely neglected to discuss skincare because - well, watch the video to find out why.

This guide is mostly directed towards traveling make-up artists who find it more practical and efficient to work from palettes as the average woman will not see the value in using up and carrying around such bulky palettes. This is because it would be too heavy to carry all day everyday and also because the average woman is less likely to use up an entire palette of just highlight and contour shades (unless you are make-up addict like me then it is totally justifiable and reasonable to own 17 contour palettes). If you find this helpful, I could also do a guide on a starter kit for teens or just for those starting out and not include the larger face palettes but rather products that will fit in your make-up bag.
