My latest Valentine's make-up tutorial has inspired me to post about a few different looks I have done either on Valentine's Day in previous years or it just has pink in them and I wanted to share as a Valentine's make-up inspiration. It is a good way to see how much my make-up has improved and to look back on which products I enjoyed using.
Valentine's Day 2008
Seven years later and I am still doing this cheesy posing. I more than likely took a rose from my mum's bunch to take this picture to make it look extra Valentinesy. I remember the lip was Max Factor's lipfinity in Hot and I was obsessed with this since buying it the previous month at WalMart. I don't remember the eye products but clearly liner was not my forte back then.

Valentine's Day 2012
A big four year jump and I'm having an affair with over-editing. Was feeling grungey and feliney but at the same time I wanted to add some romance into the look with all the beads and single inner corner hearts ( which came from a nail art wheel by the way). I belive I used the Urban Decay Naked palette and lips were MAC's So Chaud.

Valentine's Day 2014
I did write a post about this look last year so all products are listed including cheek and lips. Still loving the single hearts, this time on the outer corners and was inspired by the abundance of Elsa make-up tutorials that were emerging at this time. Kept the entire look very soft, romantic, hazy and pink. Without looking tat the post and off the top of my head, I believe I used the Sleek vintage romance palette for the eyes and Tanya Burr's First Date lipgloss on the lips.

So this Valentine's Day I wanted my make-up to be simple yet striking so I opted for a 'lips and lashes' look. I chose some paper lashes in the shape of roses and teamed them with MAC's Lady Danger lipstick - an orange based red. The rest of the eyes were kept neutral with Make-Up Revolution's Iconic Dreams eyeshadow palette and 2True black liquid liner.

Valentine’s Day Date Night Pink/Rose Gold Make-Up
So lately I bought myself a new camera and the quality of my video content is much better visually and audibly. I had filmed a few looks back in 2014 which I never got round to editing and uploading so sped them and rehashed them as Valentine's Day make-up tutorials. This is the first one which you can watch by clicking here. All products are listed in the video's description box, however I did use the Make-Up Revolution Iconic 3, the dupe for Naked 3 to create this look.

Anti-Valentine's Day Electric Pink & Purple Make-Up
The second speed tutorial and lazy girl's answer to a make-up video is my version of an anti-Valentine's look but still has the pink which you could substitute for red. It is colorful smokey eye and nude lips which you can watch right here. A product list is available in the description ox but I did use the Urban Decay Electric palette for the eyes and a lip tint from Make-Up Academy in Rendezvous.

Valentine's Glam Make Up Smokey Winged Liner & Pink Lips (Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar 2)
Oh wow! If you have watched this then you know I love to gratuitously pose and look at myself CONSTANTLY when I am loving the make-up I am wearing. I am the Queen of the Selfies and I hope I never change. This was an idea inspired by Manny MUA whose video on smokey winged liner blew my mind so much that I had to re-create it with a pink glitter Valentine's twist. It is slightly drag but glamorous enough for your Valentine's date night. You can watch it by clicking here. No doubt most of the views have come from me refreshing it so I can see that transformation. I can't help myself. Of course I used the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocllate Bar 2 palette, Lorac's 3d liquid lustre in Rose Quartz and Tanya Burr's lipgloss in Sparkling Dewdrops. The rest of the products are listed in the description box of the video.

Recently I have been looking at doing some more formal training in the beauty industry after I complete my law degree. I have a huge passion for make-up and nails and would like to one day provide a make-up therapy and wig-making service to those with special needs and lifelong illnesses. So naturally, make-up and beauty skills is something I would like to develop in order for it to be part of my vocation. This has inspired me to write a guide on the places which offer make-up course and as a side note (well more of as a reminder to myself(, the places where you can learn more about hair, wig-making and other course which may benefit you as a professional artist or one in training. My home country's offerings for make-up training has certainly developed since I first became interested in beauty therapy. Inspired by an old and now defunct Bebo blogand continuing from my make-up story, I decided to put together a comprehensive list of where you can go for some formal and informal make-up training. Whether you have aspirations to become a professional make-up artist or you just want to learn some new techniques, there will be something for everyone. This list will include the price, duration, date & time and expected qualification of each course. I will also include the type of make-up you will learn about such as beauty, fashion, film & television, theatre, special effects & prosthetics, photographic and special occasion. Knowing this will aid you in what to choose should you decide to pursue make-up and cosmetics as a career.

Other Courses As make-up artist, you may want to build upon your other skills such as hairstyling, hair extensions, nails, tanning, threading, spray tanning, eyelash extensions, eyebrows, photography workshops and other holistic therapies. Here are just a few:
Make-Up Degrees, HNDs and HNCs unfortunately are not offered here in Northern Ireland which is such a shame because there is gap in the market for it. If you want to go down the higher education path for this vocation, I recommend Southampton Solent University who offer a BA (Hons) in Make-Up and Hair Design. University Of The Arts London offer a BA (Hons) Hair and make-Up for Fashion and a BA (Hons) Hair, Make-Up and Prosthetics for Performance. If neither of these do not suit your needs, a quick Google search will help you find the degree, HND or HNC in make-up in vast amount of locations throughout the UK.

One-on-one training is available for an extra £20.
Eyelash Extension Courses allow you to become proficient in individual eyelash application. This is not like applying a set of false lashes. The results can be much more natural looking and last longer for your client. The Eyelash Emporium works the same way that Airbase works, as in they provide training programmes near you despite their HQ being outside Northern Ireland. This course can go towards the points you earn to achieve an NVQ and costs £25 to complete. Visit the website for current start dates.
Hairdressing Courses and Masterclasses will greatly benefit all make-up artists who want to aqcuire extra skills. Being a make-up artist combined with being a hair stylist will help you out on photoshoots and bridal work and you may get booked more than your peers because you can do more than the average. Belfast Metropolitan College offers a full-time C & G Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing where you learn to treat the scalp, style, cut and color the hair. This course has no enrollment fee but may be more suited to juniors just starting rather then mature students changing their career. The Hair Masterclass taught by Paul Stafford at The Make-Up Dept introduces cutting and styling and costs £850 for five days training. A worthwhile investment for those wishing to expand their skills.
Wigs & Postiche Courses are an invaluable asset to a make-up artist who wants to stand out from the crowd. The Make-Up Dept offers a five day course with their 5 Days Wigs for £850. For lace wigs and acrylic wig-making, you may have to go to England such as Banbury Postiche Limited who offers a Level 2 Certificate in Wig Making for for five days costing £500.
Lace Wig Application is another course you may have to travel outside of Northern Ireland to complete. The Hair Extension Master Course covers micro rings, fusion bonding, and easy shrinks and costs £299 for the one day event. You can also learn three further methods of nano rings, ring weft and tape weft in Hair Extension Course 2 for another £299. For £450 you can further develop your skills by learning how to cut and blend in the hair extensions in Hair Extension Cutting Course.
Nail Art & Nail Services will improve your nail techniques. As make-up artist on set, you may be required to do some nail preparation. Belfast Metropolitan College offerers a free, full-time course in C & G Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Nail Services where you can learn acrylic nails, gel sculpting and nail art.
Photography Workshops are a great way to network with like-minded people. Photographer Matthew McHugh holds a few throughout the year at Calumet studio on the Boucher Road, Belfast. Contact Calumet for more information on workshop days.

Hope this guide was beneficial to you. Let me know which course you choose.
I recently uploaded an updated make-up room/girl cave tour. Hope you enjoy. My furniture is a mixture from Ikea, Argos, B & M Bargains, craft shops and my pink vanity mirror is from the Hollywood range at Illuminated Mirrors - every girl's dream mirror.
This is my old room. I kinda miss it. Why do I always change my mind?
So it has been almost a year since I first reviewed the original line-up from Tanya Burr Lips & Nails. Tanya has now expanded her cosmetics range to eyelashes and is now known as Beauty Tanya Burr on social media outlets.
I personally loved the nail polishes and lipglosses and although I have not purchased anymore of the nail products since last year, I have slowly collected all of the lip product since they were first released in January 2014. The shades are Smile, Dream, Sparkle, Champagne Toast, First Date, Just Peachy, Afternoon Tea, Chic, Picnic In The Park, Aurora, Exotic Island, Let's Travel The World, Heart Skipped A Beat and Vampire Kiss.
Left to right: Smile, Dream, Sparkle, Champagne Toast, First Date, Just Peachy, Afternoon Tea, Chic, Picnic In The Park, Aurora, Exotic Island, Let's Travel The World, Heart Skipped A Beat and Vampire Kiss
In November that year, Tanya released 8 more lipglosses as part the core collection. As with the original line-up, the latest editions reflect Tanya's favorite things. The shades are Enchanted Forest, Berry Picking, Chocolate Fondue, Lunch Date, Daydream, Sparkling Dewdrops, I Found Nemo and Aphrodite. I did notice that the Eye Candy exclusive collection does not appear on the new lipglosses except for Berry Picking.

A Christmas edition was also released, called Mistletoe Kisses which is subject to limited availability at Cloud 10 Beauty.
Mistletoe Kisses
Swatches of all colors are below. Note that with most cosmetics, they shades will vary depending on your skin tone.
Left to right: Enchanted Forest, Chocolate Fondue, Berry Picking, Champagne Toast, Daydream, Chic, Lunch Date, Afternoon Tea, Just Peachy, First Date, Aurora, Smile, Dream, Sparkle, Picnic In The Park, Sparkling Dewdrops, I Found Nemo, Aphrodite, Let's Travel The World, Heart Skipped A Beat, Mistletoe Kisses, Vampire Kiss, Exotic Island
In general, there are two finishes to these lipglosses - a shimmer finish and a creme finish. The shimmer finishes have fine glitter particles which reflect light, giving the appearcne of fuller lips. The cremem finihes are much more pigmented than the shimmer one, so if you are in need of a more intesnse lipgloss, the creme finihes are perfect for you.
The scent of these lipglosses are softly sweet which remind me of the smell that wraps around your nose when you first open a packet of Straburst sweets. The do not feel sticky on the lips like they wear off really nicely without leaving a collection f worn gloss in the centre like other glosses do.
Bottom to top: Enchanted Forest, Chocolate Fondue, Berry Picking, Champagne Toast, Daydream, Chic, Lunch Date, Afternoon Tea, Just Peachy, First Date, Aurora, Smile, Dream, Sparkle, Picnic In The Park, Sparkling Dewdrops, I Found Nemo, Aphrodite, Let's Travel The World, Heart Skipped A Beat, Mistletoe Kisses, Vampire Kiss, Exotic Island
Enchanted Forest is a deep wine reddish purple. Creme finish.
Enchanted Forest
Chocolate Fondue is a sheer chocolate brown. I really wanted this to be deeper than what it is. Somewhere between a sheer and a creme finish.
Chocolate Fondue
Berry Picking is the color of berry stained or bitten lips, like a 'your lips but better' kind of color. Has fine gold glitter particles shimmering through it. Shimmer finish.
Berry Picking
Champagne Toast is a sheer bronzed tan color. Shimmer finish.
Champagne Toast
Daydream is a pale nude with fine flecks of gold glitter. Shimmer finish.
Daydream
Chic is a nude-ish vintage peachy pink. Creme finish.
Chic
Lunch Date is not too dissimalr from Chic. It is quite hard for me to tell them apart but maybe someone with more of an eye for color would notice. Creme finish.
Lunch Date
Afternoon Tea is a terra cotta pink and one of my all time favorite colors of gloss ever invented! Wore it for my wedding day and you can see a photo of that at the end. I know I am boring and repetitive but I can't help it when it comes to this color. Creme finish.
Afternoon Tea
Just Peachy is a pale babydoll pink with a hint of peach. Looks quite scary on me but would look beautiful layered with another color or teamed with a tan. Creme finish.
Just Peachy
First Date is a cotton candy pink and although beautiful does not entirely suit me. Doesn't stop me from wearing it though! Creme finish.
First Date
Aurora is a mid-tone pink with fine glitter particles. This is another favorite of mine. Creme finish.
Aurora
Smile, Dream, Sparkle is a sheer violet pink with white and fuchsia glitter. Shimmer finish.
Smile, Dream, Sparkle
Picnic In The Park is a pretty brink pink and a personal favorite. Creme finish.
Picnic In The Park
Sparkling Dewdrops is a peachy pink with flecks of glitter. Creme finish, although sheerer than other cremes.
Sparkling Dewdrops
I Found Nemo is a soft coral and perfect for the summer months and an absolute favorite of mine. Creme finish
I Found Nemo
Aphrodite is an intense reddish coral with pink glitter.Creme finish.
Aphrodite
Let's Travel The World is a bright tomato red. Creme finish.
Let's Travel The World
Heart Skipped A Beat is a sheer red with gold and red sparkle. Shimmer finish.
Heart Skipped A Beat
Mistletoe Kisses is a deeper, more pink version of Heart Skipped A Beat. Shimmer finish.
Mistletoe Kisses
Vampire Kiss is a deep, blood red. The reds of this collection are perfect for those who want to try red on their lips but are afraid to commit to fully intense block color of red lipstick. Creme finish.
Vampire Kiss
Exotic Island is a fandango purple, kind of deeper than a hot pink color. Although not one of my favorites, this stands out to me as there is no other color like it in the collection. Creme finish.
Exotic Island
I have also swatched them in a video so you can see the difference between a flash camera and a moving image. The swatches in the video are show the colors as more true to life on the lips than the photos. I have swatched them in color order so that you can see the varying differences and subtleties between each shade.
Overall, I am so impressed with the Tanya Burr collection, They feel like a luxury product for a high street price. There is something for everyone despite personal preference and age. I hope Tanya adds to these lipglosses. I would love to see more purples and oranges.
