I am addicted to make-up. I am so addicted that I had to have another warm toned palette in my drawer next to my other twenty-seven thousand warm toned eyeshadow palettes. When Urban Decay announced their recent launch of the Naked Heat, I wanted it for the sole purpose of completing the naked collection. My OCD went in to overdrive and I could not rest until I had my hands on, much like every make-up launch that catches my eye.

When I bought it, I didn't expect to like it, simply because it appeared to very monotone in tutorials and images online. I just expected to use it a few times and after the novelty wore off, it would sit in my drawer in a neat line alongside her sisters. It is actually my second favourite naked palette, coming in close behind the Naked 3. 

So what do you get for £39.50? Well, 12 eyeshadows and a double-ended brush. Stephanie Nicole and Temptalia have more in depth reviews should you need more information. In a nutshell, the shades are:

• Ounce (ivory shimmer)
• Chaser (light nude matte)
• Sauced (soft terra-cotta matte)
• Low Blow (brown matte)
• Lumbre (copper shimmer w/gold pearl shift)
• He Devil (burnt red matte)
• Dirty Talk (metallic burnt red)
• Scorched (metallic deep red w/gold micro-shimmer)
• Cayenne (deep terra-cotta matte)
• En Fuego (burgundy matte)
• Ashes (deep reddish-brown matte)
• Ember (deep metallic copper-burgundy)

Naked Heat is indeed a monochromatic palette. Shades in this palette could have been swapped for lighter or deeper tones. For example, He Devil and Scorched look identical on the eyes. Should Urban Decay decide to capitalise on this palette and release succeeding palettes in the Naked Heat range, I recommend the following colours that perhaps could have been in this palette, making it a more versatile shade selection and allowing the user to create a wider variety of looks.

• Add a shimmering olive green and call it Jalapeño. The name fits the theme and the colour will complement the overall warmth of the palette. 
• Add a matte mustard yellow to allow for a different look when blending out the matte reds and browns in the socket. 
• Add some matte and/or shimmering oranges to give a truer spectrum of colours when you think of the word 'heat.'
• Add a colour similar to Blackheart from the Naked 3 - a blackened or grey-toned shade with red or plum glitter would add depth to the palette.

Given that there a significant number of mattes in this palette in comparison to the first three, it shows that Urban Decay are listening to their customers and beauty influencers, you know the ones who complained that there was too much shimmer - not me by the way. Urban Decay are notorious for extreme palettes - either monotone like the Naked Heat and Naked Smoky or have a vast array of complex colours like the Vice palettes. Either way, this can be confusing and overwhelming for those who may be novices when it comes to application and who may struggle to pair eyeshadows together. Many of the reviews I have watched and read of this palette all pretty much parrot one another - that all looks will muddy together and look the same. Yes, it is monotone and that can happen if you are beginner but I disagree as your technique is sure to help create more looks than what you may think.
